Jon Loeb, Amanda Sari Perez, and I designed and fabricated a portable sensory room. I designed the hardware and software, 3D modeled and printed the sea turtle, and composed the music.

DESCRIPTION

Sensory rooms are therapeutic environments for people with autism and other developmental disorders. We developed a portable, ocean-themed sensory room through the use of an interactive augmented projection. Each sea animal has a color and musical phrase associated with it, which gets triggered when the animal is placed in its appropriate location on a central box.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Processing was used to handle the interactions and visual/audio output. Firmata was used to allow the Arduino to interface with Processing. The sea turtle was modeled in Fusion 360.
